Requirements
Lead AI & Data Engineer
This company is a large, global consumer software company. This role is on a new engineering team that tracks how the company’s online sales platform is performing, both technically and commercially.
One hands-on, staff-level engineer owns two new builds: a single view that combines system health with sales performance, and AI tools that help the wider engineering team work faster. This is a builder role, not platform administration.
What you’ll do
• Build production data pipelines from sales, marketing and monitoring data, with quality checks built in.
• Design dimensional data models and summary tables that power dashboards and plain-English queries.
• Build AI agents that spot anomalies, alert the right people and speed up root-cause analysis, plus assistants for searching logs, code and runbooks.
• Own LLM features end to end: prompts, retrieval, guardrails, evaluation and reliability.
• Ship internal apps on Databricks that stakeholders use directly.
Must have (all three)
• Expert Spark/PySpark: tuning, partitioning and shuffle handling at very large scale.
• Production AI agents: has shipped agents or LLM tools and can walk through one in detail. RAG alone doesn’t count.
• Built something on Databricks that people use (Genie, Databricks Apps or Lakebase), not just data landed in tables.
Also required
• 8+ years in application development and 5+ years of production data engineering.
• Expert SQL, strong Python and dimensional modeling.
• E-commerce, subscription or payments data experience.
Base: about $136,000 – $223,000 + bonus
Location: hybrid in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, onsite as needed; must already live within commuting distance; no relocation
Level: hands-on staff-level individual contributor
